Hollie & Rollie’s Minnesota Ice Castle Engagement

Hollie & Rollie’s Minnesota Ice Castle Engagement

When Hollie told me she wanted a magical winter engagement the ice castles were the first thing to come to mind and I knew immediately this was not going to be your average engagement shoot. Hollie loves snow, winter, and all things cold and magical, and Rollie is the kind of partner who is always down for whatever idea she dreams up. That combination makes for something truly special.

Originally, we thought we’d be heading to the Ice Castles in Wisconsin. Plot twist. That location had closed, and the closest Ice Castles were actually in Minnesota. Most people might pause there. Hollie and Rollie? Absolutely not. So I roped in my truck-driving husband, packed up my gear, and turned it into a full-on road trip to make this Minnesota ice castle engagement session happen.

We headed out on a Friday after they got off work and drove eight hours to our destination. On Saturday evening, we braved 20-degree weather for two solid hours inside the Ice Castles, creating something straight out of a winter fairytale. Cold fingers, red noses, frozen lashes, and a whole lot of laughter. It was challenging, yes, but it was also so worth it.

These images are everything Hollie envisioned. Soft, icy, glowing, and full of emotion. You can feel how deeply these two are connected. They aren’t just partners, they’re best friends, and it shows in every laugh, every quiet moment, and every way Rollie shows up wholeheartedly for Hollie’s dreams. This Minnesota ice castle engagement perfectly reflects who they are together.

Engagement sessions with me don’t have to be the same old same old. I am always down for adventure and always willing to do whatever it takes to bring your vision to life, even if that means sixteen hours of driving for two hours of shooting in freezing temperatures. Your love story deserves to feel like you, not a copy of someone else’s.

Sixteen hours on the road for two hours of shooting, and I would do it all over again. I am so grateful I got to help Hollie and Rollie bring their dream to fruition.

Now it’s time to start planning for their magical February wedding next year at The Wooded Knot in Tippecanoe, Indiana. If their engagement session is any indication, their winter wedding is going to be nothing short of incredible.
