The most important question: Why should We hire You to be our wedding photographer?
Because I treat my clients like family, your day is as important to me as if it were my own daughter or sons wedding day. I will work with you every step of the way to ensure that your day is documented the way you want; including creating a custom timeline to make sure that nothing important is missed.
Me and my team are there to wrangle family, to solve problems and to remind people that this day is about the two of you. I will advocate for you and your wishes to ensure that you can focus on the important part: marrying the love of your life while I provide you with beautifully documented images.
In simple terms, I got you!
1. Do I Work with a Second Photographer?
Yes and no. All of my full standard collections include a 2nd photographer and elopement packages are on a case by case basis depending on the amount of detail that is part of your day. I only use 2nd photographers who can shoot technically in the same manner as me, which means they use full frame cameras and can work well with both natural light and flash.
2. Do I Provide Video Service?
No I do not, while I enjoy video for personal work I do not feel that I have the skill set, equipment or experience necessary to provide quality videography of your day. I can recommend some massively talented videographers though:
AE Photo Film
Leah Trib Productions
3. I see your package includes an engagement session; we don't need that can we swap it for something else?
My engagement sessions are 100% complimentary and not tallied into the total cost of the packages at all and because of this removing it does not alter the price nor can it be swapped for more time or other service.
I do this because I feel having an engagement session with the photographer you plan to have on your wedding day is super important. While I don’t require my clients to use the engagement session I do strongly encourage it, because it helps us get to know each other better. It also helps me know how you like to be posed and how comfortable (or not) you are in front of the camera, so then I can better prepare for the wedding day photos. You don’t want the person photographing your wedding day going in blind I always say.
4. Can we receive both color and B&W of our images?
Currently I edit images in the style I think best fits that image, which may be color or B&W. I don't regularly deliver 2 versions of 1 photo, but once you receive your gallery if you would like to have a color image made B&W or vise versa just let me know. I would be happy to oblige!
5. Can we see all the photos including the outtakes?
I only remove images that are blurred, duplicates, closed eyes, poor facial expression etc. So basically the worst of the worst, leaving you with the absolute best images. The images that do not make the cut are honestly not even worth looking at and so they are automatically purged when I am finished editing. You will receive 100's of amazing photos though and none that may contain someone mid sneeze!
6. What is Considered Travel? How far will you go?
There are no travel fees within a 90 minute drive from my home studio (zip code 46615) and after that travel fees are based on a few factors such as if I need to be there the night before for an early morning start or the wedding runs late enough that I should stay the night as to not drive while tired. I try to limit local travel fees to cost of the hotel only.
If you are wishing for me to cover your wedding multiple hours away, in another state or at a destination location then we can discuss the travel cost at your consult. I have photographed weddings in Florida, Las Vegas and New Orleans as well as closer to home in Chicago, Ohio and Michigan. Most weddings include hotel, airfare or gas and a small amount to cover up to 2 meals per day for the duration of the time I am to be present.
7. Your images are sometimes pretty dark and moody. Can you take more bright and airy, less contrasty photos?
If you are looking for a light mood to your wedding day images I may not be the photographer for you. I love love and passion and how I feel best to portray that is with darker, moody images that play with light and shadow. If you are need references to a lighter photographer please let me know and I would be happy to pass on some names to you.
8. Can we give you a shot list?
In your timeline survey you will receive 90 days before your wedding date I will ask for a shot list specific to family formals only, other than this I would prefer you did not try to give me a shot list. A few reminders of special things you want documented is fine though.
You may be asking yourself why? And I will tell you! Your day is a story and I am here to tell that story for as long as I am present. I want to document all the big things as well as all the little things that you may not even have realized were happening, because its just a very busy day that will be over before you know it. If I am busy reading a shot list and making sure to get specifics on that list I won't notice your mother dabbing the tears as she watches you dance with your father or the flower girl who just couldn’t take it anymore and fell asleep in the pew.
I know bridal magazines and websites tout long lists of “must have shots” but I promise the majority of those lists are obvious and standard images that any good wedding photographer would capture anyway.
9. Do you have insurance?
Yes, always! If you need documented proof let me know and I can provide it to you or your venue. If your venue is requesting the certificate of insurance please let me know as far in advance as possible so I can make sure I can provide it in a timely fashion prior to your date.
10. How long have you been in business and how many weddings have you photographed?
I took on my first wedding when I was 18 and I am now 34 putting 2019 at my 16th wedding season. I usually take on between 10-22 weddings per season, plus I also will second shoot for other photographers so well over 300.
11. What kind of equipment do you use?
I shoot with Nikon Full Frame cameras: Nikon d750, D3 and Nikon d700 as well as compatible lenes.
12. When should we book you?
As soon as you feel I am the photographer for you. Most clients will book me at least 12 months prior to their wedding date.
13. Do you offer discounts?
Occasionally depending on my schedule I do offer special rates, but normally no. I want to be fair to all of my clients and so I try to keep my pricing the same for all.
